The media is changing on a daily basis. The old, formal media of twenty years ago is evolving into a realtime communication device. The Television is no longer a source of entertainment for a family to enjoy together, but an interior design necessity that enables children and parents to escape one another and enjoy their favourite programmes.
There are an ever growing number of television stations, which reflects the growing number of televisions that exist in people’s homes today. these stations claim to reflect the diverse tastes of the different viewers throughout the world.
However, it is not apparent that such an increase in the availability and choice relating to TV channels has had any positive net effect on the quality of programming. Indeed today we have seen the focus on current affairs diminish to historical lows, and this has been replaced by the easy-to-make unscripted reality TV. Sad Times.
